Gwyneth Paltrow and longtime love, Brad Falchuck, finally confirmed their engagement. Yesterday, Good Morning America reported that the couple appeared together on the second edition of the new “Sex & Love” issue for Goop magazine. Their relationship milestone is celebrated with a black-and-white cover photo of the couple looking fresh-faced, relaxed, and oh-so in love in white tees and jeans. “We feel incredibly lucky to have come together at this juncture in our lives when our collective successes and failures can serve as building blocks for a healthy and happy relationship,” the couple said in a joint statement to GMA.
“Personally, at midlife, I have tried to accept how complex romantic love can be. I have decided to give it a go again, not only because I believe I have found the man I was meant to be with, but because I have accepted the soul-stretching, pattern-breaking opportunities that (terrifyingly) are made possible by intimacy,” Paltrow writes about Flachuk in the second issue of Goop. “For the first time, I feel like I’m in an adult relationship that is sometimes very uncomfortable—because he sort of demands a certain level of intimacy and communication that I haven’t been held to before. What came up in the first couple of years of our relationship was how incapable I was in this realm—how I feared intimacy and communication” (People).
In this second edition of Goop magazine, not only does the 45-year-old actress and Falchuk confirm their engagement, but Paltrow also opens up about finding love again after 10 years of marriage when she and ex-husband Chris Martin famously consciously un-coupled. Looking back on her divorce she states, “I’m actually the only one in my life who got divorced. This used to feel like a failure; it took me a while to reframe that divorce isn’t a failure” (People).
After her relationship with Martin, Paltrow admits to having two very distinct kinds of relationships. “I had two typical types of relationships,” she says. “One where I was constantly chasing and trying to win someone over, and one where I was put off by the person’s capacity for the relationship — and those relationships were very short-lived” (People).
So how does Paltrow feel today about love and her new relationship? “For the first time, I feel like I’m in an adult relationship that is sometimes very uncomfortable — because he sort of demands a certain level of intimacy and communication that I haven’t been held to before.” Paltrow adds, “What came up in the first couple of years of our relationship was how incapable I was in this realm—how I feared intimacy and communication” (People).
Paltrow and Falchuk’s relationship was under the radar and was made public when they were spotted in April 2015 at Robert Downey Jr.’s 50th birthday bash. Soon, they are about to become one big happy family. Paltrow shares daughter Apple, 13, and son Moses, 11 with ex-husband Martin. Falchuk, 46, has two children, Brody and Isabella, from his 10-year marriage to Suzanne Bukinik.
Their relationship may have been kept under-the-radar all these years, but now all eyes are on this happy couple!
