For Sam and Nick, a potential HR violation turned out to be life-changing: the newlyweds met at work!
“Our company likes to hire recent college graduates so I started right after graduating,” Sam recalled. “Nick had been there a year already. Since we got married there have been two other company weddings!”
The proposal was a total surprise, too. While the two talked about marriage before, Sam wasn’t sure when Nick would pop the question.
The two had just come back from a vacation in the Bahamas, and after no proposal came, Sam assumed that she’d have to continue waiting. Then, one Saturday afternoon, Nick invited Sam out to dinner to one of their favorite restaurants. After dinner, the two were walking their dog along the Hoboken waterfront, and Nick got down on one knee!
“It was so casual and laid back that I wasn’t expecting it,” Sam exclaimed. “But that’s our style so it was perfect for us!”
Sam’s gown perfectly reflected the relaxed modern vibe the couple planned for the big day.
“I wanted something simple without being boring,” Sam said of her Mark Zunino for Kleinfeld gown. “Once I tried it on I knew it was my dress. I loved the way the tulle laid on the dress and the clean lines of the dress perfectly fit with the modern style of our venue.”
A big ceremony wasn’t in the cards for Nick and Sam. Despite the two having a large guest list (around 200!) the two opted for a short and meaningful service. They kept the ceremony short but filled with substance. For one, it was important for the bride and groom to incorporate their religion, as they weren’t getting married in a church.
“One of the hardest parts of wedding planning was finding a priest we liked who would agree to marry us outside of a church!”
“A big party”
One of the most important things to the bride and groom was to make their reception feel like a celebration. From extending the cocktail hour by 30 minutes because “they’re the best part of weddings!” to making sure the guests all had good food, drinks and music, Sam and Nick were all about making sure their big day feels like a big party.
