When you think about a wedding dress, chances are, your mind immediately hops to the princess-like ball gowns of Cinderella or Kate Middleton. The quintessential wedding dress is almost always two things: white and floor-length. But who says that you have to stick to that?
Shorter wedding dresses haven’t just been a runway mainstay — they’ve been spotted on real brides, too. You don’t have to have a beach wedding to rock a tea-length or knee-length frock, either. Besides, what better way to show off your shoes than with a shorter dress?
Here are 9 pairs that we love, at every price point!
We broke it up into three categories: satin, “something blue” and sparkling. We also divvied each shoe style into a prince point: $ (under $100), $$ (between $100 and $300) and $$$ (the sky is the limit!)
First up, satin heels. When you think of bridal shoes, your mind probably jumps to satin — and we can’t blame you! After all, the fabric has been synonymous with bridalwear for as long as any of us can remember! Stick to the tried-and-true style by going with more updated silhouettes. Think heel detailing (like the Jimmy Choo pair on the right) or a cage style similar to the Betsey Johnson look on the left.
Next is your quintessential “something blue” shoe. Whatever shade of blue you opt for, whether a deep navy or a baby blue, your heels are sure to stun. Plus, a bright shoe won’t get lost under the skirt if you choose to wear a shorter dress!
Finally, infuse a bit of sparkle to your bridal look with a pair of glittery or bejeweled heels. A glittery strappy sandal (like the J.Crew pair in the center) will liven up your look without detracting any attention from your dress. A more demure pair with a sparkly panel will be beautiful for more conservative weddings, too.
